Juventus are working on signing Jadon Sancho but may rely on the player’s extra efforts to get the deal over the line.
United are keen to part ways with the 24-year-old, who is no longer viewed as an integral part of Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Earlier this summer, the Dutchman welcomed Sancho back to Carrington upon his return from Borussia Dortmund, insisting he is willing to give the Englishman a chance to cement his place in his project despite their public fallout.
However, Ten Hag overlooked the silky winger during the opening stages of the new season, having excluded his name from his Premier League matchday squad against both Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion.
The predicament has led to interest from Juventus and Chelsea in his services during the final days of the window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli remains in more advanced talks than any other suitor, with Chelsea understood to be monitoring the situation.
It is claimed the Old Lady have “a sort of priority” in the race for the England international.
United, who have demanded a fee in the region of £40 million for their out-of-favour star all summer, are now thought to be open to greenlighting a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Sancho’s salary, reported to be around €8 million per year net, may prove to be a big hurdle in Juve’s pursuit as the figures are out of the Serie A giants’ budget. The former Dortmund superstar is one of the highest-earning players in Manchester.
However, it is suggested that the prospect of spending a season away from United’s starting lineup, and on the stands, may force Sancho to reconsider his stance, perhaps in the form of a pay cut.
Time is running out for both Sancho and Juventus, who are also looking to offload Federico Chiesa, whom Sancho could potentially replace in Turin. The Italian winger, who has been previously linked with United, is now attracting serious interest from Liverpool.
Apart from Sancho, United are also in talks to facilitate the exit of Scott McTominay, who is wanted by Juventus’s rivals, Napoli.
