Galatasaray reportedly convinced Manchester United to part ways with Casemiro but failed in their attempts to lure the midfielder to Istanbul.
The Brazilian’s horror show during the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat by Liverpool raised plenty of eyebrows, leaving fans and pundits alike questioning his future under Erik ten Hag.
The United gaffer’s decision to hook the veteran off at the break for 20-year-old Toby Collyer underlined just how frustrated he was with Casemiro’s display.
Considering the Premier League giants have already spent big on Manuel Ugarte and are set to keep hold of Christian Eriksen, it would not surprise many if Casemiro struggles to regularly start for United moving forward.
The defensive midfielder’s predicament at the Theatre of Dreams has seemingly alerted Galatasaray, with the transfer window still open in Turkey until September 13.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Istanbul-based outfit held talks with United over a possible deal for Casemiro.
According to Turkiye Gazetesi (via Sport Witness), Galatasaray’s pursuit was so advanced that they even “shook hands” with United on Wednesday over a season-long deal for Casemiro.
However, the five-time Champions League-winning midfielder rejected their approach, as he was not convinced about a move to the Super Lig outfit.
Further, the ex-Real Madrid man intends to continue in England and fight for his place in Ten Hag’s team.
The 32-year-old is tied to United until June 2026 on a very lucrative contract, which reportedly sees him take home £350,000 per week.
Galatasaray must be disappointed with Casemiro’s stance, as they have been searching for a new midfielder all summer. Before Scott McTominay moved to Napoli, they also tried to secure his services.
Antony is another United star who saw his name linked with a Turkish club, with a report claiming Fenerbahçe are keen on adding him to their ranks. However, earlier today, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed the forward intends to continue in Manchester.
