This player’s worst ever performance in a red shirt cost dominant United two points vs Palace

Manchester United drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this evening. Here are our player ratings from the match.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Andre Onana 8 – Had virtually nothing to do until the 64th minute when a brilliant double save kept United in the game. Was well-positioned to scoop up a lame shot from Eze towards the end of the first half.

Noussair Mazraoui 8 – Perhaps could do more going forward but it is refreshing to see a right back who concentrates for 90 minutes and is rarely caught out of position.

Matthijs de Ligt 8 – Another fine performance from the Dutchman. Makes defending look easy on days like this.

Lisandro Martinez 6 – Also excellent in the first hour. Hopefully the pair can stay fit as it is looking like the strongest centre back pairing United have had in years. Weird two footed action that got him an unnecessary yellow in the second half and a generally sloppy last 30 minutes.

Diogo Dalot 8 – Dalot’s best performance of the season. Looked good defensively and going forward. Played with swagger.

Kobbie Mainoo 8 – Probably also his best performance of the season. His link up play was excellent and was powerful on the ball.

Christian Eriksen 8 – Great to see this renaissance continue. Dictated play and pinged some superb passes forward.

Bruno Fernandes 2 – Not Bruno’s day. Very little came off and he was wasteful in possession. Sometimes we forgive that for the chances he creates, but there wasn’t enough of them today.

Amad Diallo 6 – Subdued performance, although it was a testament to Glasner’s respect for him that he was double marked for much of the time. Still managed to do some neat work and create some chances.

Alejandro Garnacho 7.5 – So unlucky to see his well-timed curler hit the bar and with the long-range shot that brought out q great save from Dean Henderson in the second half. Was a nuisance the whole time but sometimes got outpaced and still needs to improve his decision making.

Joshua Zirkzee 6.5 – A couple of nice ideas, nice touches and creative thinking. But doesn’t look convincing as a finisher and some of his passing lacked crispness.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford 5 – Disappointing half hour from the England man.

Rasmus Hojlund 6 – Didn’t get into the game much.

Manuel Ugarte 6.5 – Looked neat and tidy.

Manager

Erik ten Hag 5 – Can’t fault the first half set-up, in which United dominated and should have been in front. Questionable substitutions took United’s impetus away. Mount or Antony would have been a more positive addition than Ugarte and there was little creativity from deep after Eriksen went off. Instead of a grandstand finish, the game fizzled out with Palace looking the more likely to score.
