Manchester United u21s continued their good form to start the season with a victory over Blackburn Rovers u21s last night. Here are our player ratings for the match.

(A score of 6 is around average)
Dermot Mee – 8 – A very good performance from Mee, was called into question to make some good saves and looked very comfortable with the ball at his feet, even making some very difficult passes to open play up.
Habeeb Ogunneye – 8 – A big performance from back to front. He gave his winger no change and came up with some important tackles at the back. Going forward he got down the right wing very well and used his strength to shrug off challenges and burst into space. A fantastic run from him opened the play preceding Mather’s goal.
Tyler Fredricson – 7.5 – Very good match from Fredricson with quick passing out from the back. Looks to be regaining his sharpness after the lengthy injury lay off. Was also strong defensively and good in the air.
Jack Kingdon – 7 – Defended the box well for the most part but was turned a little too easily for Igor Tyjon’s goal.
Tommy Rowe – 6.5 – Decent performance from the player-coach, put in some good tackles at the back and remained composed in possession.
Finley McAllister – 5 – An off day for McAllister, his passing was wayward and he found himself isolated at the base of the midfield. He wasn’t able to cover the ground quick enough to stop Blackburn having a free run at the backline.
Ruben Curley – 7 – Had a few loose passes in the midfield but linked well with the attack overall and threatened with an attempt of his own. Also did well pressing high up the pitch but it did leave gaps in front of the backline, although that may be down to tactical planning rather than Curley’s application considering the similarities seen in the first team.
Malachi Sharpe – 7 – Provided the assist for Ennis’ goal to open the scoring with a good cross after working very hard to keep the ball in play. He looked dangerous throughout the first half with one shot pushed onto the post but was a bit wasteful in the final moments at times and missed a big chance in the second.
Jack Fletcher – 8.5 – Two assists cap off a stellar performance which could have seen plenty more. Combined very well with Mather with one touch football that looked liked they’d played together for years. Came close to scoring himself with a couple of long range efforts and his set piece delivery had Blackburn scrambling. Defensively he put in the shift as well with one crucial interception in United’s area late on.
Sam Mather – 8.5 – The best player on the pitch alongside Fletcher who he linked so well with. Was a constant threat on the left wing with his close control and ability to weave through tight areas around the box and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts.
Ethan Ennis – 8 – Well taken goal early on to get his head onto Sharpe’s cross. He is a constant nuisance for opposition defenders with his relentless running and did very well to shield off challenges and hold up play in the area. His incredible first touch was also key to setting up United’s third goal.
Substitutes
Jacob Devaney – 7.5 – Made a big impression off the bench and helped United regain control of the match and eventually run away with it. Added a lot of energy defensively and also quality in possession with some exceptional defence splitting passes, one in particular which should have been converted by Sharpe.
Gabriele Biancheri – 7 – Only introduced for the final ten minutes but continued his scoring form with a goal from his first touch of the ball.
Louis Jackson – N/A – Not on the pitch long enough
Jaydan Kamason – N/A – Not on the pitch long enough
