Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has achieved an incredible club feat, after finding the back of the net against Southampton on Saturday.
United got back to winning ways as they managed a 3-0 victory over the Saints at St Mary’s.
Matthijs de Ligt opened the scoring just moments after Andre Onana denied Cameron Archer from the spot-kick. Rashford would go on to double his side’s advantage with a curling trademark finish into the bottom corner.
Alejandro Garnacho came on from the bench to all but confirm the three points were heading United’s way, as he scored in the dying embers of the match.
Rashford’s goal was his first since March, ending a pretty lengthy drought for the forward.
In scoring, the 26-year-old joined esteemed company, as he became the fifth United player to score in 10 separate Premier League seasons.
Rashford of course opened his top-flight goalscoring account when he grabbed a sensational brace during the opening 45 minutes of his debut against Arsenal in February 2016.
He finished that season with five goals to his name and matched that tally the following campaign.
The Carrington academy graduate registered eight goals in the 2017/18 term as the Red Devils finished in second position, just behind cross-town rivals Manchester City.
It’s from here that Rashford exploded and really came into his own as a Premier League star. In the next three seasons, he managed to put up double figures. Notably, he had 17 goals to his name in 2019/20 under Ole Gunnar Solskajer.
His numbers dipped in 2021/22, as a result of injuries and poor form as United endured a tough season which saw Solskjaer sacked and German coach Ralf Rangnick brought in his place as interim boss.
However, he roared back to life in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge, as he struck another 17 Premier League goals. He managed 30 across all competitions.
Last term was another challenging one for Rashford as he only got seven goals.
The only other four players to score in 10 Premier League seasons are Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and legendary skipper Roy Keane.
Giggs made it on the score sheet in each of the 21 Premier League seasons he played, only falling shirt in his final one at the age of 40!
Meanwhile, Scholes found the back of the net in each of his 19 campaigns at Old Trafford.
In addition to scoring for United in 10 Premier League seasons, Rooney is also one of only three players to have scored 10+ goals across 10+ campaigns. The other two are Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard.
Keane managed at least a goal in 11 of his 13 top-flight seasons with United.
Hopefully, Rashford can now kick on for the rest of the season.
