(A score of 6 is around average)

Tom Heaton – 6 – Couldn’t do much about Barnsley’s two goals being cutbacks from close range and was only called into make one other save. Played decently with the ball at his feet to bypass pressure but did have some shaky moments.

Habeeb Ogunneye – 6 – Decent performance up and down the right wing and offered himself as an outlet before being subbed off.

Louis Jackson – 5.5 – Subbed off at half time after a bit of a sloppy possession at the back.

Tyler Fredricson – 6.5 – Solid performance defensively, most noticeably a last ditch tackle in the first half to stop Barnsley running away with the match but could have been cleaner on the ball with his passing.

Harry Amass – 6.5 – Had an interesting back and forth battle with the experienced Corey O’Keefe where they effectively nullified each other with Amass making an incredible seven tackles in the match. Didn’t have his greatest game on the ball though, but still had his moments with driving runs into space.

Jacob Devaney – 6 – His night got off to a bad start when he made a sloppy pass that led to Barnsley’s goal but he eventually settled into the midfield and a decent match, moving the ball quick and simple.

Toby Collyer – 7 – A good performance in midfield, he made his mark early spraying passes with extreme precision and finished the match completing nine out of nine long passes and 94% pass percentage overall. His influence waned in the second half but his assuredness in possession was key after the team’s sloppy mistakes in the first half.

Ethan Ennis – 7.5 – A constant threat down the right wing, he had the beating of his fullback all night as he skipped past and down the right wing. Capped the performance off with a goal but easily could have had more if his end product was better and trusted his left foot more to attack the space inside he created.

Ruben Curley – 6 – Played some good passes and broke free into space in midfield but also drifted through large spells of the match.

Sam Mather – 5.5 – Showed his talent with a couple of flashes but simply wasn’t involved in the match enough to have a big impact.

Ethan Wheatley – 6 – A mixed performance, he showed great technique to take the ball on the turn and open space in the box on a number of occasions but was missing his shooting boots on the night. Also gave away the ball cheaply for Barnsley’s second.

Substitutes

Sonny Aljofree – 6 – Was strong in the air when defending the box but like most of United’s backline on the night he had some shaky moments with the ball.

Jack Fletcher – 9 – The man of the match, he instantly made an impact off the bench and had United looking far more threatening in attack with incisive passing and dynamic movement, ultimately scoring two goals. An incredible long range volley drew the match level before he added his second with some quick thinking.

James Nolan – 7.5 – A bit sloppy in possession but ultimately he came up in the big moments to provide two assist in only three completed passes. Found Ennis open in the box for United’s first and then his awareness created the match winner to find Fletcher with his throw.

Ethan Williams – 6 – Didn’t really have much of an impact after coming on late.
