Tweet: “After five years at Old Trafford, @AWBissaka has joined West Ham. Aaron will always be a part of the United family and he departs with our very best wishes.”

Wan-Bissaka was signed by the Red Devils during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure at the club.

United agreed a £50 million deal with Crystal Palace to sign the right-back. He would go on to play 190 games, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup trophies in the process.

The 26-year-old’s unrivalled one-on-one defensive abilities often stood out during his time at Old Trafford.

In both of these cup wins – the Carabao Cup against Newcastle and the FA Cup against Manchester City – Wan-Bissaka started at right-back and was tasked with defending a tricky winger.

Against Newcastle, the former Palace man effectively shut down Allan Saint-Maximin, while he dealt with Jeremy Doku in the FA Cup against local rivals City in May. Both performances were crucial components to these successes for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Wan-Bissaka’s contract had been set to expire this summer before the club triggered an automatic one-year extension over Christmas. This delayed the fullback hitting the free agency market until next summer, meaning this summer was United’s final opportunity to command a meaningful transfer fee for him.

Fabrizio Romano reveals West Ham have agreed to a £15 million deal to sign Wan-Bissaka on a seven year contract. His new deal at the London Stadium will expire in 2031.

It marks a return to the country’s capital for Wan-Bissaka who was born in Croydon and joined Crystal Palace’s academy at twelve years of age.

Official, confirmed. Aaron Wan-Bissaka joins West Ham from Man United on £15m fee.

Contract will be valid until June 2031 as his salary will be spread over 7 years.

United were content to let the now 26-year-old depart as they have already agreed a deal with Bayern Munich to sign Noussair Mazraoui – the Moroccan right-back who previously enjoyed great success under Ten Hag during their shared time at Ajax – as his replacement. Romano reveals official confirmation of Mazraoui’s switch to Old Trafford will come “next”.

Best of luck back in the Big Smoke Aaron!
