Following his departure from Man United, Hannibal himself took to X to post a farewell message to the club and his former teammates.
“It has been an honour to represent this incredible club for the last five years,” he stated.
“I leave with so many special memories. Making my debut, scoring at Old Trafford and representing United in the Champions League. I’ll forever be grateful to the many staff and players who have helped me to develop as a player and grow from a boy to the man that I am today.”

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that Burnley had agreed to a £9.5 million deal for Hannibal. While Fabrizio Romano initially claimed it would be a loan deal with an obligation to buy, he later confirmed that the deal would be a permanent one instead.
The Man United official website also posted an article, detailing Hannibal’s departure from the club.
Now 21 years of age, Hannibal joined United’s youth system in 2019, graduating in 2021. Since then, however, he struggled to convince manager Erik ten Hag to include him as a regular player in the first team, having only made 13 first-team appearances for United in all competitions.
As a result he was sent out on loan twice, namely to Birmingham City and then La Liga club Sevilla.
The Tunisian has scored only one goal in his senior United at career, a long-range strike in the 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford in 2023.
Ultimately, Hannibal’s departure from the club appears to be a sensible choice for the club given the financial benefits of offloading him, especially given United’s busy transfer window, and his struggles to find a place in Ten Hag’s plans.
Hopefully, Burnley can offer the young midfielder the breakthrough he needs to truly make his career succeed.
