Multiple clubs eyeing late move for out-of-favour United star INEOS are desperate to sell – report

After agreeing a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte, player sales have taken priority at Manchester United in the last days of the summer window.

There have already been four arrivals before the Uruguayan and INEOS have had to sell well in order to steer clear of breaching any Profit and Sustainability rules.

The latest to leave is Scott McTominay, who is on his way to Napoli to have his medical after the Serie A won the race for his signature.

The new co-owners have also moved on Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley while also including a hefty sell-on clause. Jadon Sancho also looks to be on his way to Juventus after the Turin side beat Chelsea in the transfer race.

Lindelof’s future

Another player earmarked for a move away this summer is Victor Lindelof but a pre-season injury meant his chances of leaving were slim.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that Lazio were considering a late approach for the Swede and now, The Daily Mail have reported that multiple clubs are in the race for the centre-back.

Fellow Italian team Fiorentina, Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt and even a few Saudi clubs have been mentioned as potential suitors for the former Benfica ace.

“Serie A side Lazio are weighing up a potential move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof before the summer transfer window closes. Lindelof has been named as one of the many Manchester United players that could be offloaded this summer, but a deal has not yet materialised.

“But, Lindelof has not trained in more than three weeks due to a toe injury and only managed two halves of football during United’s pre-season campaign. Nevertheless, Lazio will have to battle it out with Fiorentina, Eintracht Frankfurt and a few Saudi Pro League clubs for Lindelof’s services this summer.”

Limited chances on offer for Lindelof

Injury problems have affected the Sweden international’s career over the last 12 months with the 30-year-old missing over 20 games in the 2023-24 season due to a combination of different injuries.

Erik ten Hag feels even if Lindelof stays, he will likely be used as a backup left-back if needed and has fallen to the bottom of United’s centre-back list following the arrival of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.

With only a year left in his current United deal, it makes sense for the 20-time English league champions to try to move on the defender this summer.

He has a market value of €15 million as per Transfermarkt and INEOS would do well to earn as much from his sale. That does not look too likely though.
