Mason Mount ruled out of action for several weeks with hamstring injury – The Athletic

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is set to be sidelined for many weeks with a hamstring injury.

Mount started both United’s Premier League clashes of the 2024/25 season against Fulham and more recently, Brighton and Hove Albion.

He was taken off at the interval vs. Brighton, with Ten Hag later revealing that the chance was a forced one due to a suspected injury.

The England international was not spotted in training pictures this week, fuelling further speculation that the problem he picked up at the Amex was serious.

The Athletic have now given an update on Mount’s fitness and indicated that he is dealing with a hamstring injury.

According to the newspaper, “Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is set to be sidelined for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury.”

“The 25-year-old was replaced at half-time of Saturday’s Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion as a precaution after reporting an injury to United’s staff.”

“The club have now confirmed that Mount has been ruled out of Sunday’s meeting with Liverpool at Old Trafford and he is not expected to be available until at least after the September international break.”

Reacting to this latest setback, Mount wrote on his social media (via United’s official website), “During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue.”

“I’ve had it checked and it looks like I’ll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.”

“I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”

Mount signed for United from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth around £55million.

The 25-year-old was limited to only 20 appearances last term, due to a string of injuries that prevented him from nailing down a consistent run of games in Ten Hag’s side.
