Manchester United finally ended their relationship with Mason Greenwood this summer, selling the striker to Marseille on a permanent deal.
Since then, Greenwood has got off to a rapid start in Ligue 1, slamming in five goals in his first four games for his new club.
As reported by the Sun, owing to his electric start, the Englishman donned a special badge handed out by the French top flight this weekend.
Greenwood wore the top scorer badge which recognises the player who scored the most goals in the previous gameweek.
The white and gold logo is called the S1 badge and was introduced at the start of the season in France.
Greenwood became the first Marseille player to wear the badge but couldn’t mark the occasion with a goal in the home fixture against Toulouse.
Despite winning the game 2-0, the 22-year-old ironically failed to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season.
Greenwood’s form at the start of the campaign has left United fans wondering what might have been had it not been for his reported off-the-field behaviour.
The academy product was dropped by United after being charged with one count of attempted rape, one count of controlling and coercive behaviour and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in 2022, resulting in him never playing for the club again.
Charges were subsequently dropped but INOES made the decision to cut ties with the forward and move him on from Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is struggling to find the formula in attacking areas with his forward players getting off to slow starts in the new campaign.
However, the 3-0 win against Southampton at the weekend saw Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both get off the mark for the season and Ten Hag will be desperate for them to catch fire in the coming weeks.
United face a packed fixture schedule before the next international break, starting with the Carabao Cup tie against Barnsley on Tuesday night.
