“Here we go”: Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United have agreed deal with PSG to sign Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of Manuel Ugarte, confirms the reliable Fabrizio Romano.

Heading into the ongoing summer transfer window, reinforcing the midfield and finding the perfect pivot partner for young Kobbie Mainoo were top priorities for United.

Several targets including Martin Zubimendi, Amadou Onana and Sander Berge were considered but the club ultimately settled on Ugarte as their main man.

For weeks, the Red Devils were locked in talks with PSG in an attempt to thrash out a deal for Ugarte. These negotiations appeared to bear little fruit and at some point, David Ornstein reported that United had abandoned their pursuit of the Uruguayan.

It was stated that the 20-time English champions baulked at PSG’s excessive €60million (£51.4m) of the player.

As it turned out, United didn’t totally end their interest in Ugarte and it became clearer that the two sides were even open to doing a loan deal if a permanent transfer proved too difficult to get over the line before transfer deadline day. PSG’s only condition to sanction a loan deal was that it included an obligation to buy at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Last week, it emerged that United and PSG were in advanced talks to seal a deal for Ugarte, who agreed personal terms with the Red Devils in July.

It has now been confirmed that an agreement has been reached between United and PSG and Ugarte will become the latest addition to the ranks at Old Trafford.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has now been struck between the two parties.

The Italian journalist even sealed the news with his famous “here we go” catchphrase.”

Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United, here we go! Deal sealed between clubs after personal terms agreed in July.

€50m fixed fee plus €10m add-ons will be the final package.

Ugarte will travel to Manchester as he ONLY wanted United… and United only wanted him.

It’s understood that Ugarte is set to have his United medical today.

Ugarte only joined PSG last summer from Sporting Lisbon but fell down the pecking order under Luis Enrique, who demonstrated a clear preference for other options in the middle of the park.

PSG signed Joao Neves from Benfica this summer and that meant that had Ugarte stayed in the French capital, his playing time would have been limited even further.

The combative 23-year-old midfielder made 25 top-flight appearances last term and featured in 37 games across all competitions. He registered two assists in that period.
