Fabrizio Romano confirms surprising fee Chelsea must pay for Jadon Sancho at end of loan

Chelsea will reportedly part with a sum of between £20m-£25m to permanently sign Jadon Sancho, after reaching a loan agreement with Manchester United.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently confirmed that after talks for Sancho, United and Chelsea finally found a breakthrough.

Ornstein relayed that the Blues will take Sancho on an initial loan basis, with an obligation to buy at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano corroborated Ornstein’s information and even gave his famous “here we go” catchphrase to assure supporters that middle ground between United and Chelsea has been reached.

Romano went a step further to state that Sancho already said yes to the Blues, which presumably means that personal terms will not be an issue.

According to journalist Sami Mokbel, Chelsea’s obligation to buy Sancho is less than £40m.

Meanwhile, Mike Keegan wrote on X, “Jadon Sancho to Chelsea on loan with obligation very close. Future fee, I believe, is between £20m and £25m.”

“Big saving on wages for United – and gets a problem (for them) out of the door.”

Romano noted that the actual figure stands at £25m.

Sancho scored 12 goals and contributed six assists in 83 games for the Red Devils, since joining them from Borussia Dortmund for £73m three years ago.

The 23-capped England international fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag last season after a public spat.

After a six-month loan move to Dortmund, Sancho was welcomed back into the squad but his only action so far this season was a brief appearance from the bench during the defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
