Juventus have reportedly left the race for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Rumours concerning the English winger have dominated the last weeks of the transfer window as he once again reiterated his desire to leave the club after being left out of the two opening Premier League matchday squads.
It was also relayed by The Peoples Person yesterday that the truce between the Sancho and Erik ten Hag at the start of pre-season was a “sham” to increase the player’s value in the market.
It had been reported that Juventus had agreed a deal with United over a loan plus obligation deal but this does not seem to be the case as yesterday morning the Italian press began to strike a much more negative tone over the deal.
Fabrizio Romano added to the story yesterday and claimed any move between Sancho and Juventus was on standby as neither side could agree to each other’s demands on salary or the type of loan deal.
Gianluca Di Marzio has gone even further and reported that despite working on a deal for Sancho, “the Bianconeri have ultimately decided not to take the English attacker”.
The Serie A giants have decided not to move forward with a deal as “they are satisfied with the transfer market and with the work of Samuel Mbangula, who, if Sancho had arrived, would not have been given the space he deserves for how he trained and how he faced these first matches.”
“Juve are therefore very satisfied with the work done in the incoming transfer market and are therefore withdrawing from the final rush for Sancho, also because the costs of the operation were high anyway.”
Nonetheless, not all of the Italian press are singing from the same hymn sheet as Corriere dello Sport report this morning that while Juve’s offer is admittedly not high enough for United, “everyone is waiting until the last moment and is hoping to find the right balance by paying as little as possible.”
They also suggest that the Italians’ could return to the table if they are able to sell Arthur, Tiago Djalò or Filip Kostic and “it cannot be ruled out, but it is not certain.”
Therefore, “there could probably be other big twists during the day” and until the deadlines arrives tonight, a move cannot be ruled out.
One side that very much remains in the race is that of Chelsea, who Sancho reportedly prefers to join and who are prepared to agree a permanent transfer for him. The only catch is that United must agree to a swap deal, with Raheem Sterling’s name the most discussed at this point.
