Confusion over final step in deal that would see United man end long-term stay at club – report

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay’s medical time at SSC Napoli is still unknown.

The Scottish international’s future has been one of the most gripping storylines of the whole summer window from a United perspective.

McTominay was linked to numerous clubs such as Fulham and Turkish giants Galatasaray but Napoli were the team that eventually convinced the player and United to sell.

It was reported yesterday that the two sides had agreed a deal worth €30 million for the midfielder and personal terms had already been taken care of.

Reliable journalist for The Athletic, David Ornstein, reported that McTominay was set to travel to complete his medical in Naples.

Nonetheless, reports in Italy are not so certain when the Scot will undergo the final step in his move.

Corriere dello Sport reassure Napoli fans that “the deal is done, there is no more trembling” but also reveal that “the day of the medical visits is not yet clear.”

“As of yesterday evening they were not scheduled, there were a few things to sort out with United, but the story is constantly evolving and surprises are never excluded in football.”

It is assumed however that they will take place tomorrow and that both the Scot and fellow new signing Romelu Lukaku should be shown off in front of fans on Saturday against Parma.

It is suggested though that fans may not see the player in action this weekend as the paper reports “to see McTominay a little more patience will be needed.”

Interestingly, The Daily Mail believe that the 27 year old is already in Italy, travelling yesterday evening to complete his medical and move.

Regardless of the exact time or date, it seems certain that McTominay’s time at Old Trafford has finally drawn to an end and he will be a Napoli player very shortly.
