Classy gesture by under-fire United star makes a mockery of the constant criticism he gets

Bruno Fernandes has been seen taking a former Manchester United employee out to lunch in Manchester.

The Portuguese star has been United’s most productive player this season by some distance, scoring 16 goals and providing 18 assists, despite playing a significant portion of the season in a deeper midfield role.

In spite of his fine form, Fernandes has often been torn to pieces by pundits for his captaincy.

Former United skipper Roy Keane has been very vocal in his criticism of Fernandes as captain and has claimed that he just deals in “soundbites” for interviews.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp, has also bizarrely opined that Fernandes would have no role at Sir Alex Ferguson’s United.

Nonetheless, most fans of the club know about the effort Fernandes makes to be a mentor figure in the dressing room and how deeply involved he is in the club.

The Sun reports such an example when Bruno Fernandes was “spotted taking an ex-Manchester United employee out for lunch.”

“Former communications officer, John Allen, was made redundant last summer amid a brutal wave of job cuts that saw 250 people lose their jobs.”

“The pair were seen heading to Juniper in Wilmslow, a hotspot for Man Utd players to enjoy lunch.”

Allen had been at the club for 25 years, starting in the ticket office before joining the media department in 2011.

Nonetheless, he was removed from his position during Ineos’ purge.

This is not the first time in which Fernandes has shown his love and care for those at the club beyond the playing staff.

He was reportedly shocked by the reduction in perks for the staff last year such as free travel down to London for the FA Cup final. As a result, he confronted the club executives and offered to pay the costs out of his own pocket, but his proposal was rejected.

The fans also clearly value his contribution as he was involved in the planning of United unveiling their first ever Tifo banner before tomorrow night’s crunch European quarter final against Olympique Lyonnais.

“A student of the game”: Rio Ferdinand reveals personal advice he gave to United star that led to huge improvement

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has backed Leny Yoro after Thierry Henry’s much-criticised punditry on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

Whilst discussing United’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle United, Henry strangely chose to pinpoint Leny Yoro’s reaction of looking at the linesman for Harvey Barnes’ goal.

The Peoples Person has already commented on the unnecessary actions of Henry as Yoro had very little to do with the goal and did what most defenders instinctively do.

The mocking tone of the pundit has irked numerous United fans and Sky Sports have since deleted the clip, probably realising the error of their ways.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand Presents, the United legend has defended Yoro and claimed he is learning all the time as a 19 year old centre back.

He admitted that it had been a difficult start to life at Old Trafford for the Frenchman by claiming, “yeah, it was a tough start for him [Yoro] right, but again, he came into a team lacking confidence.”

Ferdinand also highlighted that United is a hard team for young players at the moment due to the lack of quality experienced players in the squad to help guide them.

“Young players need to come into a team if they’re going to do well, with players around them they can look to in moments it’s not going well that they can draw confidence from, that’s why I feel sorry for some of these players that join Man United.”

The Champions League winner also defended Yoro’s attitude by claiming, “he’s a student of the game, he sees his mistakes, he acknowledges his mistakes and he tries to learn from those mistakes.”

He cited the game against Southampton where he struggled against Kamaldeen Sulemana but Ferdinand revealed that he gave him some tips about using his arms in those situations and that he now sees Yoro following his advice.

Ferdinand continued, “little details that I can see now that he’s pushing off people, when he’s running down the channel, rather than just thinking I’m going to win in a footrace. This is a different league, it’s a much more physical league.”

Yoro has also since responded to the criticism and posted a verse from the bible on his Instagram account stating, “don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.”

United fan groups seeking legal action after abhorrent treatment in France – report

Manchester United fans are exploring legal action after their horrendous treatment in France during last week’s Europa League tie.

United managed to throw away a 2-1 lead in the final seconds of the match and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Olympique Lyonnais.

The second leg will be played at Old Trafford tomorrow evening with the match finely balanced.

United fans’ moods were only to get worse after their treatment in the French city, however.

Before the match, The Peoples Person has already relayed that fans had to make their way to the Eurexpo Conference Centre to collect a wristband and then get a coach to the match.

This robbed them of the chance to soak up the atmosphere in the city centre before the match, which is commonplace in European away days.

It was also reported that after the game, fans were tear-gassed in the stadium by French police and that the club has subsequently launched an investigation.

The Daily Mail now reports that, “United fans are exploring legal action after supporters were tear-gassed by French police following the Europa League quarter-final first leg in Lyon last Thursday.”

“Those in the away end at the Groupama Stadium were subjected to heavy-handed treatment by police, who sprayed fans with tear gas after they tried to access toilet facilities during the mandatory hold-back of more than an hour.”

The paper reports that groups including the Manchester United Supporters Trust are speaking with experts in England and France to “see whether there is scope for a legal challenge.”

There is no clear plan of action yet but it seems that legal action against the French authorities is certainly “believed to be on the table.”

Lyon fans coming to Manchester will face no such problems as there is no mandatory meeting place and tickets do not need to be collected at a certain point.

Emery wants Aston Villa back in the Champions League next season after PSG setback

Aston Villa enjoyed their Champions League run and Unai Emery wants a repeat next season.

From Italy: This United ace holds the key to Amorim landing “extraordinary” 25yo Serie A hitman in the summer

Manchester United are on the hunt for a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund, who has struggled throughout his sophomore campaign in England.

He has three Premier League goals all season with Ruben Amorim bitterly disappointed with what he has seen from the 22-year-old so far.

In worse news, the head coach now only has the Dane to rely on for the rest of the season following Joshua Zirkzee’s season-ending hamstring injury.

Should the former Atalanta ace not impress between now and the end of the season, INEOS are prepared to cut their losses on him in the summer.

Rasmus’ exit on the cards

A discounted sale or even a swap deal exit cannot be ruled out with The Peoples Person relaying that Juventus are open to offering Kenan Yildiz to the Red Devils for the Denmark international, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

But Calciomercato’s latest report makes much more sense with the Bianconeri destined to losing Dusan Vlahovic owing to his wage demands with United among his suitors.

The Serbian’s current valuation is closer to Hojlund’s which makes the swap deal offer more realistic especially from a Juve point of view.

“The 25-year-old Serbian is liked by Barcelona in addition to having a market in the Premier League and is valued at around 30 million euros, considering that in June he will be only one year away from expiring.

Swap deal with Vlahovic?

“Juve could also exploit Vlahovic’s contract to reach other objectives in England, such as including him in negotiations with Newcastle to bring Tonali back to Italy .

“The former Fiorentina player could also end up in talks with Manchester United for Hojlund, another player under special observation by Giuntoli for the forward sector.”

As per recent reports, English clubs such as United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle are all ready to pay €45 million to land the Serbia international.

The “extraordinary” striker has 14 goals in all competitions as well as five assists, not his most prolific season but he is much more of a ruthless No 9 as compared to Hojlund while also having the experience of playing in big matches.
