A “certain pessimism” growing over United star’s move to Serie A club – report

There is a creeping sense of negativity in the Italian press this morning over Jadon Sancho’s move to Juventus.

The English winger seems to be heading out of Manchester and the two main possible destinations are those of Juventus and Chelsea.

Both clubs have their own demands as Juventus do not want to pay all of his salary and Chelsea insist that Raheem Sterling or another unwanted star makes the move to Old Trafford in a swap with Sancho.

The Italian press was optimistic yesterday that a deal would be found between United and the Old Lady and this positivity seemed justified when RMC Sport reported the news that Juventus had agreed a deal with the Red Devils over a loan plus obligation deal.

Nonetheless, confusion arose when Fabrizio Romano reported something quite different, that no deal had been struck and in fact, the Serie A giants were still haggling over his salary and whether the agreement would involve an optional or obligatory purchase clause.

Juventus and Chelsea remain both in talks for Jadon Sancho.

Consequently this morning, the Italian press strike a more negative tone on the chances of a deal taking place between Juventus and United for Sancho.

Corriere dello Sport report that “Juventus has presented a very low-cost offer to try to also take Jadon Sancho” that has no obligation to buy.

It is also claimed that they have “no intention of paying the €10 million” that Sancho currently receives at United.

The outlet also states that Juventus do not need Sancho as the signings of Teun Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao make the squad “complete” even without an agreement for the English winger.

As a result, “the feeling that filters through, however, is of a certain pessimism” but “today we will know more.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport echo this sentiment by reporting that “Juventus is aiming for a costly loan, which also includes the part of his salary to be paid around €5-7 million.

“United have not opened up for now, new contacts are expected today and the Juventus offer could be improved, especially if in the meantime Juve’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has managed to get rid of the last two redundancies, Filip Kostic and Arthur, saving on salaries.”

There is also a final warning that Chelsea are still lurking trying to do a deal as they claim “watch out for the competition from Chelsea.” This also ties in with the news that came out last night that whilst Sancho is open to both moves, he would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge, complicating the Italians’ objective even further.
