Another INEOS masterclass as United set to earn massive windfall from player’s exit – report

Manchester United are currently focussed on completing multiple outgoings before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Hannibal Mejbri has agreed to join Championship side Burnley on a permanent deal, as opposed to a loan with an obligation to buy as was previously thought.

The upfront fee is a bit less, with United earning £5.4 million currently with another £4 million in potential add-ons which will take the overall income up to £9.4 million.

The Red Devils had bought the Tunisian for £9 million back in 2019 and many will wonder why the club could not get a better deal for the highly-rated midfielder.

Hannibal to Burnley

As with previous sales this season, INEOS have included a massive sell-on clause which will see United earn up to 50 percent from a future sale as reported by BBC’s Simon Stone.

“Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley is done. £5.4m fixed fee, potentially rising up to £9.4m. 50% sell-on and buyback,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Judging from the 21-year-old’s massive potential, it is only a matter of time before he explodes on the club scene and United could make millions more should he inspire the Clarets back to the Premier League.

That’s not all as United also have a buyback clause, as was the case when United had agreed to send the academy graduate out on loan to Sevilla, who had the option to make the move permanent.

Also United have matching rights, which means they can match whatever price is being offered to bring back the player should he excel in the second division of English football.

Great deal by INEOS

The 20-time English league champions had high hopes from the Tunisia international after his excellent displays for the academy. But he struggled to break through into Erik ten Hag’s first team despite a few decent displays.

His failed loan stint with Sevilla proved to be the death knell of his United career but all is not lost for Hannibal.

He has previous experience of playing in the Championship with Birmingham and if he excels, who knows, he might be back at the Theatre of Dreams in the near future.
