INEOS are not only focussing on the first-team but also on the famous Manchester United academy with plans in place for quite a few talented youngsters.
The new co-owners have brought structure to the club which has seen numerous highly-respected football people join the right roles and they are looking at bringing back Michael Appleton as the new loans manager.
Short-term deals away from the club can make-or-break a player’s career and the club have been guilty of disastrous decisions recently as seen from Hannibal’s loan to Sevilla last term.
A lot of thought is being put into this ahead of the new campaign with pre-season hero Radek Vitek heading out to Blau-Weiss Linz temporarily.
Academy loans
From the outside it might not look as glamorous but often times, these deals end up bearing fruit as seen from Will Fish’s stint with Hibernian. The defender is set to move to Cardiff permanently on the back of the loan.
Austrian Bundesliga will be a great place to learn for the 20-year-old, and playing in a continental system will do him a world of good.
Quite a few other academy gems are also being lined up for loan moves including FA Youth Cup-winning captain Rhys Bennett, U18 star keeper Elyh Harrison and ball-playing centre-back Sonny Aljofree.

As per journalist Simon Peach, League Two side Fleetwood Town want Bennett on loan while the Red Devils are trying to find the right fits for the other two.
“As well as Radek Vitek’s loan switch, Will Fish & Maxi Oyedele are closing in permanent moves to Cardiff & Legia Warsaw respectively.
“Fleetwood are interested in taking Rhys Bennett on loan, while Manchester United are looking for suitable loans for Elyh Harrison & Sonny Aljofree,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The academy centre-back had spent the second half of last season with Stockport County who lifted the League Two title but he hardly played. He was part of Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad as well.
Heading back to the league should do him a world of good and toughen him up for bigger challenges ahead.
Three players set to depart temporarily
Aljofree was sent out on development loans to non-league Altrincham and was close to a first-team breakthrough last season due to the injury crisis at the back.
He played 45 minutes in the pre-season game against Rosenborg and was an unused substitute against Rangers. He is expected to sign a new long-term deal before heading out.
Harrison is another player who has caught Ten Hag’s eye and was even named the reserve Player of the Year, often training with the first team and impressing with his penalty saves and with his ability with the ball at his feet.
United’s academy is producing quite a few gems and the club must take extra care to ensure their development does not get hindered due to a lack of space in the first team currently. That is something INEOS hope to get right during their tenure.
