Manchester United have announced the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich but INEOS’ job is not yet done.
They are still looking at making a couple more additions but for that to materialise, significant player sales will be required.
So far, attempts at moving on Casemiro have failed while no club has managed to meet United’s asking price for Scott McTominay. Victor Lindelof’s future also remains up in the air.
Another player that could move on this summer is Jadon Sancho. The Englishman sorted out differences with Erik ten Hag before rejoining practice and played in all three US pre-season games.
Sancho’s future
He came on as a substitute against Manchester City in the Community Shield but ended up missing his spot-kick as the Red Devils lost 7-6 at Wembley.
The 20-time English league champions are well-stocked out wide and Ten Hag spoke about using the City academy graduate as a false nine until the return of Rasmus Hojlund from injury.
The 24-year-old was banished from the first team last season after his social media outburst regarding the manager and was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund in January.
It was clear that he would be sold with Dortmund and Juventus leading the race but neither were willing to pay big money for the forward and thus he returned to Manchester.
Now, Paris Saint-Germain have been revealed as potential suitors but following their acquisition of Desire Doue, it was thought that the Parisian outfit would not splurge further on wingers.
But Givemesport have claimed that the Ligue 1 club are preparing to speak to the Red Devils regarding a loan deal for Sancho which will include an obligation to buy.
INEOS want to sell players permanently instead of loans but with their interest in Manuel Ugarte, this opens up the possibility of negotiating some sort of middle ground.
The Uruguayan’s asking price was beyond United’s reach but the Sancho development means the club now has leverage on the French side which they can potentially use to try and strike a similar agreement.
PSG want Sancho, United eyeing Ugarte deal
“Manchester United star Jadon Sancho could be handed a route out of Old Trafford before the fast-approaching transfer deadline as Paris Saint-Germain are interested in negotiating a loan deal which includes an obligation to make the switch permanent, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
“GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United are open to offloading Sancho – despite repairing his fractured relationship with ten Hag – as the likes of Alejandro Garnacho are blocking his path into the preferred starting line-up, but PSG are looking to acquire his services on loan instead of meeting his £30 million price tag.
“Although the Red Devils walked away from discussions for the Uruguayan defensive midfielder last month, due to PSG refusing to lower their lofty demands, the Ligue 1 heavyweights’ desire to land Sancho could give them leverage to attempt to find an agreement ahead of the deadline.”
A departure for Sancho, even if temporarily, would free up the wage bill considerably and with only two years left in his current deal, this might be the club’s last chance at earning a decent fee from his sale.
