“Little bit longer than we expected”: Ten Hag delivers bad news on key star’s injury

Erik ten Hag says tomorrow night’s match against Fenerbahce will be “motivation” for his team.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Ten Hag said:

“We have enough players in the team. Our team is experienced, we have faced some situations more often and and are looking forward.

“It will be a great ambience and will be fuel for our team. It will be motivation and good for us.”

Ten Hag was also asked about the ongoing absence of Mason Mount, who looked to have suffered a simple head cut during United’s match against Spurs on September 29th.

“”Little bit longer than we expected. I think he will be back soon,” he said.

In general, he said that he could cope with the growing number of injuries sustained by his team.

“As long as you have enough players available to construct a team, at this moment we are OK,” Ten Hag commented.

“Hopefully we don’t get many more injuries because then we will be short.”

Speaking about tomorrow’s opposing manager José Mourinho and the level of criticism faced by them both, the manager replied:

“Mourinho and I won a lot of trophies in the last years, but you have to prove yourself every year and if you don’t, you have criticism, We know this. We are convinced we will achieve what our targets are.”

Ten Hag also reiterated that he is confident of winning games domestically and in Europe, as the following video shows:

Asked if he sees an improvement in his side since the draw with FC Twente, the boss replied:

“Yes I think I have. The confidence is a big part. When you draw or lose, the confidence is down a bit. When I spoke it was a draw but it felt like we’d lost.”

Tomorrow’s match in Istanbul kicks off at 8pm.
