Manchester United have confirmed they have tied down Sonny Aljofree to a new long-term contract.
The centre-back has signed a three-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2027.
The new deal comes just days after he secured a loan move on transfer deadline day to League Two outfit Accrington Stanley.
Sonny’s father Hasney took to Twitter to express his delight at Sonny’s new deal. He said, “Extremely proud of Sonny signing his new 3 year contract with Manchester United.
“Pleased it’s finally done and Sonny can concentrate on his loan at Accrington Stanley. The next chapter is exciting with lots of opportunities to learn and develop.”

A talented centre-back with an impressive passing range and strong in the air, Aljofree’s loan to Accrington Stanley isn’t his first foray into senior football.
Going on loan to Altrincham last season, Aljofree never appeared for the non-league club in the league but had a sole appearance against Runcorn Linnets in the Cheshire Senior Cup semi-finals.
Looking for more playing time this time out, Aljofree has yet to make his debut for Accrington Stanley with him cup-tied for the EFL Trophy causing him to miss their home fixture against Stockport County on Tuesday night.
A natural leader, Aljofree’s composure on the pitch has seen him captain United throughout the age groups.
Born in Plymouth while his father played for Plymouth Argyle, the 19-year-old moved to the Manchester area shortly after joining Manchester United at a young age.
Speaking upon his loan move, Aljofree said, “I have been at Manchester United for the best part of my life, 13 years, that’s all I have known, and it’s a good time for me now to step out of my comfort zone and try and get some appearances in the league.”
A household name at Carrington, the Aljofree and United connection stretches back to the 90s when father Hasney was an academy player himself before going onto have a successful career in the lower leagues.
After his retirement, Hasney spent nearly a decade back at United as an academy coach before recently taking up a role with the Singapore FA.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Sonny Aljofree will be hoping his new contract and loan move are the first steps before making his competitive debut for United having already featured previously in pre-season.
